After the formation of Telangana, its cabinet today placed its budget proposal on November 5, 2014. Bifurcation period will end on March 2015 and the estimate shows an expenditure amounting to more than Rs 1 lakh crore during this period. Three sectors have been emphasised upon and they are infrastructure (including irrigation and road), health, and social sector programmes.
Chandrababu Naidu of TDP, an essential partner of NDA, has confirmed reports that Narendra Modi is all set to expand his cabinet. Though he said that everyone will know about the plan of expansion in 2 days time, sources say that the likely expansion will take place on November 9 (Sunday). This expansion will be done to lessen load of over-burdened ministers like Arun Jaitley. PM also met the President on November 6, giving more ammunition to the rumor mills.
Parliament’s winter session is going to start on November 24. Insurance Amendment Bill was pending to be approved for a long period of time. However, after a long wait it will be tabled by the government during upcoming session and Arun Jaitley hopes that this time it will be approved by the Lok Sabha. One of the main propositions in the bill is the raising of limit from 26 per cent to 49 per cent.
To restrict ‘hate content’ that possibly had propagated hatred among social media users, Facebook restricted information access to around five thousand such information pieces in India itself from January to June 2014. This was done by the popular social media website on request from various agencies as well as government. Facebook restricted 1,773 information pieces in Pakistan and 1,893 in Turkey.
Forbes’ recently released list of most powerful persons of the world show Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 15th position. Other Indians who made it to the top 72 list include business honchos such as Satya Nadella of Microsoft (64th rank), Lakshmi Mittal of ArcelorMittal (57th rank), and Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries (36th rank).
Intelligence agencies have decrypted messages between notorious Al Qaeda and Indian Mujahideen that indicate the two terrorist groups are working hand-in-hand to carry out major assault in India. Available reports say that the notorious duo had plans of converting Indian situation to the likes of on-going turbulet situation of Iraq and Syria. Intelligence agencies also said that Indian Mujahideen members are currently being trained by Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
At last, the realty giant DLF got an interim relief in redeeming its Rs 1,806 crore Mutual Fund investments that were earlier made unavailable by the MFs, showing the SEBI order that banned DLF for 3 years from getting access to securities market. This interim relief was announced by Securities Appellant Tribunal on November 5, 2014 for helping the company service its debt. SAT’s presiding officer J P Devadhar has said that the relief was given because the Sebi order never restricted the concerned company from doing business.
A report prepared by ‘Transparency International’ shows that two Indian companies have made it to the top 30 list among 124 large companies surveyed. These two companies are Oil & Natural Gas Corporation and Reliance Industries. While the former got 26th rank, RIL secured 9th position. In terms of country specific assessment, Chinese companies have been adjudged worst in checking corruption but British companies are the best in this regard.
Indian trading markets are closed on November 06, 2014 and India is celebrating the birthday of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion. On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, all the market segments including money, equity, commodity, and forex remained closed, the day after BSE Sensex touched 28,000 mark. Yesterday, NSE Nifty touched its all time high of 8,365.55 points.
Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister of India, has said that some developed countries have taken unreasonable position on India’s demand of a ‘peace clause’ that will protect billions of poor Indians. He also said that this stance of India to safeguard its own people through proper and definitive measures on the question of stockpiling has been totally misunderstood. It is translated as an act of stalling trade facilitation completely. Though India has initiated backroom efforts, unreasonable position of some developed nations is getting into the way of a compromise formula.
