Sibling rivalry this Friday

 

This Friday the sisters will fight, not in reality but at box office. Parineeti Chopra’s Shuddh Desi romance with Sushant Singh Rajput and Priyanka Chopra’s Zanzeer with Ram Charan Teja, the Telugu superstar and Chiranjeevi’s son, hits the theaters. The movie goers will have the choice of action packed movie in Zanzeer to fun filled romance in Shuddh Desi Romance. Zanjeer will be the debut vehicle for Teja who was little cautious of stepping into the hot shoes of Big B. The movie is a remake of 1973 Zanzeer which won the superstar the tag of ‘angry young man’. Sanjay Dutt will be essaying the role of Sher Khan portrayed by Pran in the classic. Shuddh Desi Romance also has newcomer Vaani Kapoor in the cast.

Bryan brothers stunned by Paes-Stepanek at the US Open

 

The brothers Bob and Mike Bryan had their eyes set on becoming only the second men’s pair to win all the Grand Slams in a single year. Little did they know that their dream will come crashing down and that too the danger will come from an unknown quarter. They lost to Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic in the semifinals of the U.S. Open. The match went in favour of Paes and Stepanek 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. To think of the fact that they had 28 straight wins in Grand Slam matches in an year and this win would have let them equal Ken McGregor and Frank Sedgman’s record in 1951. Stepanek had neck injury at the Australian Open and Paes was told to team up with other players but he stood his ground and his trust showed results today.

PF balance check, switch can be done online

 

Now those who have provident fund can check their accounts online. The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) unveiled this feature on Friday. The PF subscribers can check their balance till March 31, 2013 as of now and efforts are on to make this facility real time. Before this functionality was launched the subscribers were given annual account slips by 30th September every year. There would be another feature which would help the five crore subscribers a lot in transferring the PF accounts online when they switch jobs and this would be operational from next month. This will be very useful for the subscribers who had to wait for a long time to know the details of their accounts. EPFO will also looks into the fact that PF claims are settled in three days in comparison to 30 days earlier.

Majority of the mobile internet users in India are male

 

A latest report done by Vserv.mobi has found out that most of the web users in India are below 24 years and are males. The users here in India are well off and tech savvy. The report suggests as many as 9 out of 10 users who opt for mobile internet are men. 60% of the users are below 24. 50% of the internet users are educated. 70% of the users belong to upper class with high disposable income. Mobile internet users focus on content and information and are directed to mobile advertising.

China has not occupied section of Indian Territory: Antony

 

Defence Minister A.K. Antony today stated that there were no fresh intervention and occupying of any territory by China or that they have created any obstruction in Indian Territory. Shyam Saran, the former secretary had submitted a report on Ladakh after his visit there last month and Antony made this statement after referring to his reports. In some of the media reports it was specified that China has occupied large area of Indian territory in Ladakh and was denying access to the Indian troops. He also dismissed the fact that of India’s cessation of any territory to China. He specified that the government maintained surveillance of everything which can have an effect on national security and adopts measures to maintain it. Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha again witnessed noisy scenes from the opposition regarding media reports of China occupying section of the Indian territory and it had demanded Antony’s statement on the same.

India in touch with Afghanistan over killing of author: Khurshid

 

External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid stated that India is in continuous touch with Afghanistan over the murder of Susmita Banerjee, Indian author by Taliban militants as per reports. He also stated that the killing came as a shock. Susmita Banerjee was shot after being pulled out of her house in Sharan city yesterday night. She had gone recently to Afghanistan to stay with her husband who was an Afghan businessman. She had written her account "A Kabuliwala's Bengali Wife", depicting her life in the country and how she got herself free from Taliban’s clutches. This was transformed into a movie. Khurshid stated it to be a loss for both, India and Afghanistan. Opposition in the Parliament has asked the government to take a strong note of this and some also felt that the government did not respond in the right manner.
