HRD Minister waives off 100% fee for SC/STs, Dalits & disabled in IITs
The Supreme Court has asked Vijay Mallya- the loans defaulter to declare all his assets by 21 April in addition to informing about the date when he can appear before its bench. In addition to this, the court has also asked Mallya to deposit a ‘substantial amount’ to prove his bonafide. Mallya is also expected to state the exact amount of money that he would be depositing with the Supreme Court. The next hearing for Mallya’s case is set for 26 April 2016.
Numerous organisations including the JKNPP, Jammu Province People’s Forum(JPPF) and Sri Ram Sena have called for Jammu bandh today. Reason behind the bandh is to protest against the alleged police action on the outstation students at NIT in Srinagar. Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) Working President MS Kutoch has appealed to the residents of Jammu to make the bandh a complete success, supporting the outstation students studying in NIT Srinagar.
Tata Steel will be initiating the formal process to sell its UK unit by 11 April 2016. The announcement was made by the British business minister Sajid Javid who attended a two-hour meeting with Tata Steel’s chairman Cyrus Mistry at the Bombay House- the Tata Group’s headquarters yesterday. Javed also informed about the multiple parties that would be coming forward for the assets once the official process of selling the UK unit starts.
Union Human Resource Development minister Smriti Irani has promised a fee waiver of 100% for all SC/STs, Dalit and physically challenged students of all the 23 branches of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Though the formal announcement regarding the same is awaited, Irani has also hinted on a 66% fee concession for the IIT students hailing from a family with income of less than Rs. 5 lakh.
