During Delhi Economics Conclave, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that the Indian economy’s current shape is in a far better position than it was when they assumed central power 17 months back. He went on to say that in almost all economic indicators - whether it is regarding current account deficit, inflation, interest rate, GDP growth rate, or revenue – the outcome is better. PM Modi also said that the real aim of reform should be to transform the society. He went on to claim that even the worst critiques of the government also don’t dispute the fact that the current Union government has been able to weed out corruption.
Results of Kerala Civic polls were announced today where ruling UDF witnessed serious depletion in popularity. CPIM-led LDF was ahead of UDF in all civic bodies. In Gram Panchayat, LDF won 547 seats out of 941 seats with UDF at a distant second with just 362 seats. In the municipalities, LDF secured 44 seats as UDF secured rested 41 seats. One of the important points to note in this election is the rise of BJP in the coastal state where BJP’s tally in the Gram Panchayat increased to 11. In Thiruvananthapuram, BJP got 35 seats out of the total of 100 seats.
Prime Minister Modi, during his first rally in Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) today, made announcement of special development package to the tune of Rs. 80,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement has been made in a stadium in Srinagar. The itinerary includes inauguration of Baglihar hydro electric project (Phase II) of 450MW followed by his next rally in Srinagar (at the event of inaugurating 4-lane projects on NH44’s Ramban-Banihal and Udhampur-Ramban sections). During the speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised on the importance of leading educational institutes such as IITs and IIMs in ensuring international standard education in India. Security has been beefed up by the administration during PM’s rallies. While additional paramilitary forces have been deployed, railway and internet services have been suspended.

TRAI or Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has rejected the cohesive demand of the telecom operators of doing away with the order that mandates the latter party to compensate the customers for a maximum of three call drops in a single day. Reports say that the official communication has been done through their association AUSPI and COAI to TRAI on 27 October 2015. In the written communication, the operators raised certain issues regarding their inability to implement the regulations and went on to warn the regulatory authority of increasing their tariff rates if forced to pay for call drops.
India has increased its medal tally at 13th Asian shooting championship after Heena Sidhu won gold medal in women's 10m air pistol. Heena edged past Gundegma Otreyad of Mongolia by a whisker as she scored 198.2 over the latter’s 198. In the event, third position was secured by Korea’s Jangmi Kim, whose score stood at a distant 176.2. Gold was won by India in the junior women's event of 10m air pistol. Shri Nivetha won the event by scoring 195.8 in the finals. In this event she edged past Mongolia’s Shinemurun Nyamdorj (scored 195.4) and Korea’s Heesun Kim (scored 174.4).
55-year-old Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje (alias Chhota Rajan), erstwhile dreaded underworld don and bête noire of Dawood Ibrahim, is now in custody of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Without elaborating much on the issue, spokesperson of CBI, has said that the central sleuth agency has remanded the gangster on the basis of a case against him. The fugitive don was flown back from Indonesia today by a cache of officers belonging to CBI, Delhi Police, and Mumbai Police on a special aircraft, which landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi at 5.30am IST. He was rushed from the airport to the headquarters of CBI, where the security has been increased through deployment of additional personnel of Central Industrial Security Force.
