Reports say that the government said on Wednesday that things are ready from their side for the smooth conduct of bull taming sport Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu, but they are waiting for the Supreme Court's approval.
Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave mentioned that the bulls are not treated badly during their performance of the sport. He further expressed his confidence to it and said that the Supreme Court will look into the matter so that the festival can be celebrated with pleasure.
Last November, Supreme Court had dismissed the appeal of the state government and banned use of bulls for Jallikattu events in the state.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi sharply criticised PM Modi on demonetisation at the day-long Congress convention ‘Jan Vedna Sammelan’ held in New Delhi on Wednesday. Gandhi said that PM Modi broke the spine of the Indian economy through demonetisation. He further said that PM Modi and the RSS have weakened the Reserve Bank of India as well as the judiciary. Gandhi also committed to save the voice of the country.
Gandhi took a dig into the slogan of BJP and said that 'acche din' in the country can only come if Congress returns to power.
Gandhi is going to lead the party's election campaign in five states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Punjab and Goa.
