Mumbai registered an outright victory in their 45th Ranji Trophy semi-final against Madhya Pradesh in Cuttack. Cricketer Aditya Tare is Mumbai team’s captain and is quite excited to play against Saurashtra in Pune on 24 February. This is perhaps Mumbai’s first foray into the final in the last three seasons of Ranji Trophy.
Having revealed about an upcoming show titled “The Farm’ that has a similar concept like that of Big Boss, Dabangg Khan today, tweeted a video wherein his rumoured girlfriend Lulia Vantur is seen playing the show’s host in collaboration with a Romanian Television presenter. Superstar Salman Khan who spends quality time in breeding horses is planning to start a new reality show on farming and is already in talks for the same with Colors channel.
In an attempt to promote Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, state minister Sellur Raju produced a picture of the CM and held it against the coffin of Sepoy G Ganesan - the soldier who died in the avalanche in Siachen. Raju had come to hand over a cheque of Rs. 10 lakh on behalf of his government and intended to make it clear that the credit for the same actually went to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
While the election commission will be announcing the schedule for upcoming Assembly elections within the next few weeks, West Bengal state government has notified the recruitment of a whopping 19,000 teachers in government-aided schools located across the state. The selection would be made via a State Level Selection Test (SLST) which would be conducted by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (SSC).
The Rock alias Dwayne Johnson has announced casting Priyanka Chopra in next year’s Baywatch movie. Chopra would be playing the villainous Victoria Leeds in the flick which also casts Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario. The 33-year-old actress was last seen in Bollywood’s well-received Bajirao Mastani. She has Jai Gangaajal coming up next.
Today, Indian National Rupee fell to near record lows against the dollar. This has forced the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to intervene in order to combat further falls for the Asian currencies. Rupee fell to as low as 68.67 to the dollar, not very far from the record low of 68.85 that was witnessed in August 2013 when India was fighting against the worst monetary turmoil.
As the host of South Asian Games 2016, India was yet again crowned as an overall champion for the 12th consecutive time after grabbing a whopping 308 medals. India also dominated the final day of competition in addition to the South Asian Games held at Shillong. India won 188 gold, 90 silver and 30 bronze medals.
Tracking gains on the Nifty futures traded on the Singapore stock exchange, both BSE Sensex and Nifty are expected to open with higher trades. With the SGX Nifty scaling up by 0.57 per cent or 40 points to close at 7,088; the Asian markets would be consolidating two sessions of solid gains with the risk appetites displaying resilience to the selloff in oil prices.
With less than three months after Aamir Khan got into trouble due to his ‘intolerance debate’, the actor has been brought on-board by the BJP-led state government to partner with one of its flagship schemes. Today, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Aamir Khan may make a joint announcement of the latter becoming a brand ambassador for the Jal Yukt Shivar scheme which aims at making Maharashtra villages drought-free in next five years.
