BSE Sensex jumps to reach 26,000 mark
Bomb scare hits Mumbai-bound Jet Airways flight
As his fourth trip to the United States of America, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on his first state visit to Washington. The sole aim behind the visit is to focus on US’s “Pivot Asia” and India’s “Look East” policies. Scheduled in the month of June i.e. on 7-8 June 2016, this state visit of PM Modi will comprise pomp, ceremony and a formal dinner banquet for expressing lofty sentiments and an expansive vision.
Today, the BSE Sensex jumped over 100 points to close at its key 26,000 mark. Additionally, the Nifty closed above 7,950 during early deals and traded 8 points lower to close at 7,907. India’s biggest IT outsourcer, TCS was among the top Nifty losers and its shares fell nearly 2 per cent after the firm missed margin estimates in its fourth quarter.
In the morning, Airport Authorities halted a Mumbai-bound Jet Airways flight at the Ahmedabad Airport after a cabin cleaner found a paper written “BOMB” under the seat 24A of the plane. While the plane has been taken to an isolated area at the airport, a search operation is still under way.
