Sources revealed that Parliament’s Budget Session is all set to kick-start from February’s 3rd week. Dates of the Budget session will be decided by the Cabinet committee on Political Affairs today. Political observers believe that major fund allocations for 'Make in India' plan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project, will be done during this upcoming budget. Sources say that M Venkaiah Naidu, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, met top ministers of the Union government and discussed about the need to do away with the ordinances and get them approved by the Parliament.
Michael Nobbs, former hockey coach of India, has recently opined that the time is ripe for Indian national hockey management to select a home-grown coach who is akin with the psychology of players and processes of Indian hockey. Nobbs also suggested that selecting an Indian for the position of coach at this point of time is perfect because it will give the coach enough time to prepare the Indian side for upcoming Rio Olympic Games, which is going to be held after 18 months from now.
India lost to England during third ODI in Australia tri-series yesterday after Indian skipper M S Dhoni opted to bat first after winning the toss. India was all out within 40 overs by scoring just 153 runs. England chased and reached the target of 154 runs in just 27.3 overs. While meeting the press Dhoni blamed batsmen for the humiliating loss and said that Indian wickets tumbled one after the other at a time when the side required building partnership. Till now Australia tops the chart with 2 wins (9 points), followed by England with 1 win (5 points).

ASUS, the tech company that is well known for bringing commendable notebooks, has launched its reply to Google’s Chromebook in the Indian market. This device is named Asus EeeBook X205, which comes at a nominal price of Rs. 14,999. This device will be available to Indian customers through Flipkart solely from today. However, the affordable device will be available at Asus Exclusive stores from coming month. This below-1kg notebook comes with 11.6 inches display, Intel Bay Trail-T Quad Core Z3735 processor clocked at a speed of 1.33 GHz, Windows 8.1 OS, and 2GB RAM.
Swine Flu is creating havoc in Telangana and AP as death toll reaches 10 in 2015. In Hyderabad itself 49 new cases of swine flu have been reported in the last 24 hours. Government has reportedly said that the private hospitals are admitting patients having moderate fever and treating them for swine flu to make money, which is artificially increasing the patient number. JP Nadda, health minister, assured that the situation is under control and there is no need to hit the panic button yet.
Train movement along Howrah-Mumbai railway track has suffered a complete paralysis after local tribal people of Odisha, especially in the Rourkela region, sit on the tracks for more than 24 hours now. It is learnt that they are protesting over the proposed move of the government to include their Panchayat area within Rourkela Municipal Corporation. Large numbers of police personnel are deployed in the place, who are trying their level best to control the situation. Many trains of the route have been cancelled, leading to inconvenience for passengers.
AAP has replaced candidates Rajinder Dabas and Govardhan Singh with new candidates, at the behest of Arvind Kejriwal, as it is learnt from party sources that complaints were piling up against them. While Dabas was expected to contest from Mundka, Singh was expected to contest from Mehrauli constituencies. Prashant Bhushan of AAP said that both the candidates were dropped after internal Lokpal found them guilty of different charges. While Govardhan was alleged to have campaigned for Narendra Modi last week, Rajinder Dabas was alleged to have bought his APP ticket.
Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport Minister, stirred up hornet’s nest when he said that his government is made up of ‘Ram Bhakts’ (followers of Ram). While delivering a speech in Faizabad region of Uttar Pradesh to kick-start a Rs. 2,000 crore road project (named ‘Ram-Janki Marg’) from Ayodhya to Nepal’s Janakpur, Gadkari said that his government made this controversial statement. It comes at a time when NaMo has strictly asked cabinet ministers and MPs to restrain from making controversial comments publicly.
Kiran Bedi filed her nomination paper at Sub-Divisional Magistrate's office around noon. She will be contesting the polls from Krishna Nagar constituency. Projected Chief Ministerial candidate of Aam Aadmi party, Arvind Kejriwal, filed his nomination today in the late morning, around 11.30am, today at district magistrate office located at Shahjahan Road. Kejriwal will be contenting from New Delhi constituency and his main rivals are Nupur Sharma of BJP and Kiran Walia of Congress. Kiran Bedi is contesting from a rather safe constituency.
Indian Army is all set to place order of 30,000 Sports Utility Vehicles, which will be bought over a period of 10 years, defence sources reveal. The total order will be of Rs. 3,000 crore. The initial order of 5,000 vehicles, amounting Rs. 500 crore, is expected to be placed in the coming weeks. Sources have revealed that the two SUVs that are meeting the price and technical requirement criteria are Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari Storme.
Mirach Capital, an investment vehicle, is hopeful of resting landmark hotel assets of Sahara like that of Plaza in New York. Per California-based investor, Saransh Sharma, Sahara will not be able to pay-off over $1.5 billion money it is borrowing from Mirach Capital, which will lead to acquiring of the assets of same valuation by the investment firm. Sahara has borrowed the money to bail out its chief Subroto Roy from jail.
After Indian bourses witnessed rally in the last 4 trading sessions, traders today booked profit that made BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty indices to come down after hitting record highs. During late morning trade (11.30am) Sensex came down from new high of 28,896 points to 28,870 and Nifty from 8,741.85 to 8,711. At 3.16pm IST, Sensex was trading at 28,891.06 and CNX Nifty at 8732.45.
