The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rejected the Shiv Sena's 155-125 seat sharing demand and submitted new proposal. Talks were held by the BJP to culminate the seat sharing war between the two political parties but could not reach an agreement. BJP Maharashtra unit chief Devendra Fadnavis met Sena president Uddhav Thackeray to inform him about the BJP's decision on proposal made by Sena regarding seat sharing in Maharashtra Assembly polls. Shiv Sena wanted to contest 155 seats leaving 125 for the BJP. September 27 is the last date to file nominations for the October 15 elections in the state.
Pakistan People’s Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's comments to take the entire Kashmir from India if he comes to power received a criticism from India. As per media report External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that the process of looking forward does not mean any change in borders. Nothing comes before the unity and integrity of India. As per BJP the comments are "immature" and "childish" and added that Kashmir is an integral part of India.
Eight Indian women has made their way to the Fortune list of top 25 the most powerful women "shaping the new world order" in the Asia-Pacific region. ICICI Bank chief Chanda Kochhar (2nd) is at the top of the list from India. Apart from Chanda Kochhar three more Indian women made it to the top 10 and these are State Bank of India's Arundhati Bhattacharya (4th), HPCL's Nishi Vasudeva (5th) and Axis Bank's Shikha Sharma (10th). Australian banking major Westpac's chief Gail Kelly is at the top of the list.
The Narula brothers Achin, 24, and Sarthak, 23 from Delhi are the first from the city to win the maximum prize money of Rs 7 crore in the Jodi Special episode of TV reality game show Kaun Banega Crorepati. The show is hosted by none other than Amitabh Bachchan. The duo were expecting to win Rs 25 lakh but the outcome was totally shocking for them. They gave all the answers very calmly.
Jitu Rai, who won the first gold medal yesterday again became the star performer. Under his guidance the men's team won the bronze medal in 10m air pistol event at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range. Rai earned 585 points and got qualified for the medal round. Samaresh Jung’ garnered 580 points, Prakash Nanjappa 578 and thus helped India to gain 1743 points in total, the same as second placed China. But it was the number of Xs (bullseye) in the tens that helped China to win Silver (China 65, India 64). Whereas Dipika Pallikal won the first women’s singles squash medal in the 17th Asian Games in Incheon on Sunday.
Shiv Sena refused to make any more concession in the number of seats it offered to the BJP for Maharashtra Assembly poll. It agreed to give 119 seats out of the total 288 seats. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray also reminded that late Sena supremo Bal Thackeray had supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi after 2002 Gujarat riots. As per media report Uddhav Thackeray further added that this is the final attempt and he cannot go further. He added that Shiv Sena will fight from 151 seats, leaving 119 seats for the BJP and 18 for the allies to contest.
