Pakistan violated the ceasefire again along the Line of Control. On Thursday, firing continued in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Around 12:05 pm heavy and small firing started from Pakistan's side and the Indian troops retaliated. Pakistan has been continuously violating the ceasefire and over the period, five Indian soldiers have so been killed in Poonch sector along the LoC. On the other hand, Pakistan has expressed their concern over the firing from the Indian side and its parliament has issued a resolution against India as per which a constructive engagement with India has been called for. Earlier too in this month the parliament had passed a resolution which accused India of unprovoked firing.
A major fire occurred at two fire cracker units, Chidambaram Fire Works near Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu. The fire is said to have happened after an explosion. Three fire tenders struggled hard to put off the fire while the blasts could still be heard as stated by an official at fire station. Major cause of fire could not be identified but it has gutted thirteen rooms in the factory though no loss of lives has been reported. The surrounding area was also evacuated.
Anil Ambani today appeared in court as the prosecution witness in the 2G scam case. He was to answer questions regarding his company's involvement in the supposedly fraudulent allocation of telecom licences in 2008. Anil earlier had sought for postponement of his appearance in the court which was not accepted and he had to answer the queries from the witness stand.
Reliance Telecom’s three executives have charges on them in the 2G scam case. Ambani negatively replied when he was asked about the meetings and linkages of his company with those who have been accused in the case. He stated he has attended so many meetings so he did not remember those meetings or was not aware of any such interaction happening in his company. Anil stated that he was not aware of any meetings of Reliance with Swan Telecom. CBI has termed Ambani as a hostile witness to which his legal counsel did not agree and just stated that Ambani was being cross examined.
Non-bailable warrant (NBW) has been issued by additional session court in Delhi against three Pakistan based associates of Dawood Ibrahim. The warrants have been issued in connection with the IPL spot fixing scandal. This order came after Special Cell of Delhi Police sought for the warrants against the three as they were said to have a crucial role in the scandal. NBW has also been issued against four bookies - Mohd. Shakeel Amir, Praveen Kumar G. Thakkar, Sanjay Aggarwal and Sandeep Sharma, whose name had come up when the police interrogated other accused that were arrested and they even tried to evade their arrest. Delhi Police had mentioned in its chargesheet filed on 30th July that Dawood and his associate Chhota Shakeel, were the controllers of the betting market in India and the main operators of the IPL spot fixing scam.
Amitabh Bachchan is livid with a fake video uploaded on the YouTube, where he is shown doing promotions for Narendra Modi, the Gujarat Chief Minister. Big B stated he will take legal action against the person who has uploaded it and has also alerted the authorities. His fans have also rallied around him. He stated he had done a campaign earlier in 2007, where he talked about the country, that footage has been taken and intermingled with voice and text and then uploaded on YouTube. He termed this as a blatant misuse of the copyright act.

Google has unveiled the beta support for Hindi handwriting and aims to make Hindi internet simple to use. There will be the feature to shift to Hindi for Android. Herein, the users need to select the option Handwrite from the settings in the mobile browsers and then use finger or stylus to write in Hindi anywhere on the screen. Google will help the users to search for what they are looking for in their native language. Besides this, he also has to change the language of the Google Products to Hindi and set it as the default language for search results. Google auto-complete will also be there to help users type in Hindi. This feature is there in phones with Android 2.3 platform and higher versions, tablets with Android 4.0 and upgraded versions, and on iOS5 onward devices.
