Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh has asked for a ticket for Barmer constituency but he not been given a ticket for the same. Instead party gave the same ticket to Col Sonaram Chowdhry who has recently joined the BJP after quitting Congress. Singh does not want to compromise and looks like that he is now open to contest the same seat as an independent candidate. He made vague comments on the party’s leadership without mentioning the name of any leader. Singh added that this is the second time that the party has done this to him. But this time he is not going to do any compromise. Tomorrow he is going to visit Barmer and discuss the issue with his supporters. After this he will take the decision of contesting election as an independent candidate. He said that the denial of the ticket is like disregarding the senior party leader. Without naming anyone he said that the BJP is completely taken over by outsiders who have no respect for the ideology of the party. Singh also said that party is now divided into two parts – one of original and other of unreal and duplicate candidates. Unluckily duplicate part is holding the reins of the party now.
Senior Congress leader Churchill Alemao from Goa left the party on Saturday and decided to contest as an independent candidate from South Goa in the Lok Sabha elections. Alemao said that he has given enough time to the party to consider and give him the seat from South Goa. He has forwarded his resignation this morning. At his place the Congress has projected Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco from South Goa and named Ravi Naik from North Goa. The state of Goa has just two Lok Sabha seats. Voting will take place in the fifth phase and on 17th April. Counting will take place on 16th May. Many senior leaders have left the party in the last few weeks. Some of them have joined BJP and others the opposite parties. This is surely a blow to the party and will definitely affect the party’s standing in the Lok Sabha elections.
