AirAsia India's fourth aircraft 'The Pioneer' has a visual theme dedicated to JRD Tata. A livery has an image of JRD Tata with his aircraft Pussy Moth that he flew on October 15, 1932. JRD Tata is the one who created an aviation department in Tata in July 1932 and started an un-subsidized flights between Madras (Chennai) and Karachi via Bombay. He dreamt of Air India. Mittu Chandilya, CEO, AirAsia India added that this is the best way to celebrate the growth of Air Asia.
Chief Election Commissioner HS Brahma said that linking of Aadhar card with voter identity card will make India the first country in the world not to have a duplicate list of voters. With this India will also have a complete biometric data of its voters. He also commented on Supreme Court's order on Aadhar card which states that the card is not mandatory for taking public services and said that daily lakhs of voters are adding their name for Aadhar card on their own without any compulsion.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declined to become the convenor of a task force for implementing "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan". The offer was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but he preferred working just as a member instead of convenor because of his busy schedule. In a letter to Prime Minister Modi, CM Siddaramaiah stated his wish to work as a member not as convenor. The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) in its first meeting decided to have three sub-groups – one on centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, skill development sub-group chaired by Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar and Swachh Bharat chaired by Siddaramaiah. There are 10-11 chief ministers in each sub-group.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his radio programme 'Mann ki Baat' has addressed the farmers on Sunday and defended his government's stand on Land Bill. He said that the Bill is for the welfare of farmers and villages. He added that the Land Acquisition Bill was brought 120 years ago and his government is making some amendments to this for the welfare of farmers. PM Modi also said that rumours that the new Bill is anti-farmers and will not give farmers a right to approach court are absolutely wrong. He even appealed farmers to stay away from such statements as these can bear some political interest.
Sri Lankan Navy has arrested fifty-four Indian fisherman for allegedly entering into their water. Sri Lankan Naval spokesman commander Indika Silva said that 21 fishermen on five boats arrested at Kankesanturai whereas 33 fishermen on five boats were seized at Talaimannar. Sri Lanka has recently released 86 Indian fishermen after a visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the country. Fishermen's associations of Sri Lanka and India are about to meet each other in Chennai on March 24 and 25 for talks including infringing the water boundary and entering into each other's water.
Firefighters rushed to the Parliament complex in Delhi as a massive fire broke out at an air-conditioning plant in the building. Though the fire has been controlled but efforts are being made to measure the damage. British architect Edwin Lutyens designed the building in 1927 and fortunately it was closed on a Sunday with a very few staff inside at the time of fire.
