As per media reports, DMK chief Karunanidhi’s wife’s involvement has cropped up in the money laundering case pertaining to 2G scam. In the case already Kanimozhi, who is Karunanidhi’s daughter has been chargesheeted along with A Raja. A kickback of Rs 200 crore was siphoned to A. Raja via a TV channel which was owned by Kanimozhi and her stepmother Dayalu Ammal.
According to the media reports, the Supreme Court has referred the case of Rajiv Gandhi’s killers to a constitutional bench. The convicts’ death penalty has been commuted to life imprisonment and the Tamil Nadu government wanted to remit the sentence. At the same time the apex court stated that the interim order staying the remission of their sentence will continue.
A fire broke out at a slum in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. 500 hutments were burnt and as many as 8 people were injured in the fire. As per media reports the fire happened at 830 am. To control the fire 35 fire engines were deployed. Injured have been admitted to the hospital.
Priyanka Gandhi hit out at Modi and talked about the Gujarat model stating that people knew how acres of land were transferred to Modi’s friends at very low price. As per media reports Priyanka said that instead of talking about ABCD and RSVP model, Modi should be talking what he has for people.
The soaring spree of Sensex came to an end today when it slumped by almost 188 points and ended at 22,688.07 points as per media reports. This was due to selling in oil and gas and capital goods. NSE also dipped by 58 points and closed at 6,782.75 points.
P.V. Sindhu who is ranked 10th in world has reached the semis of $200,000 Badminton Asia Championships being played at South Korea. According to the media reports Sindhu had lost the first game but won the next two games in convincing fashion over Ongbumrungpan Busanan of Thailand. With this she has won all the 3 encounters with her Thai opponent.
