The Maoist attack in Chattisgarh resulted in death of 30 people including the Salwa Judum founder and Congress chief. India asserted this was not going to weaken the integrity of the country.
The Union Home Ministry has asked for a detailed report from the state government. This is being viewed as the biggest attack after the one on April 6, 2010 when 75 CRPF and state police personnel lost their lives in Dantewada.
The assembly election is due in the state at the end of the year. Police is searching the area in the Darbha Ghati area, which is 35 km from Sukma town, in Bastar.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reached Raipur with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and surveyed the situation with Chief Minister Raman Singh. He has assured of all assistance to the state in handling the Naxalites.
Ex-minister and Congress leader Satish Sharma had staged a protest in the form of dharna or sit-in at Ghaziabad asking for a CBI inquiry in the gruesome murder of seven people in a family.
On Sunday, many trader organizations and politicians came in to extend support to the protest which was launched for an indefinite time on Saturday. A businessman and six members of his family were murdered on May 21. Sharma has stated that the Ghaziabad police wrongly framed Goel’s driver in the crime to show the speedy way in which the case was solved. Traders organizations like the Vyapar Mandal, Sarafa Association, Rotary club, Brahmin Mahasabha and Vaishya Mahasabha have come in support to Sharma’s protest. BJP members also extended support.
The valuation of seven leading companies dipped drastically by Rs 57,476 crore in the last week. This was more enhanced by the dip seen in SBI, RIL and ONGC. HDFC Bank and ITC were the other two companies apart from these which contributed to the massive dip.
The market capitalization of SBI was a frightening Rs 18,705 crore which earned it the biggest loss in the week. SBO had in fact registered a 18.25% loss in profit that is to Rs. 3299 crore for the January-March period. SBI’s market capitalization in the week after the down effect stood at Rs 1, 47,145crore. The second biggest loser was RIL with a dip by Rs 15,049 crore and market capitalization remaining at Rs 2,54,994 crore. ONGC saw a slump of Rs 12,876 crore in market value to Rs 2,78,010 crore, while HDFC Bank reported decline of Rs 4,069 crore in market value to Rs 1,66,953 crore. There were gainers too:
- Coal India Ltd. by Rs 8,053 crore to Rs 1,96,028 crore
- HDFC gained Rs 625 crore to remain at Rs 1,40,055 crore
- TCS compiled Rs 391 crore to stand at Rs 2,87,711 crore
TCS secured the top position, and the next in the list were ONGC, ITC, RIL, CIL, HDFC Bank, SBI, HDFC, ICICI Bank and Infosys.

Nokia will launch Lumia 925 in India and it is up for grab online. For this, it has also reduced the price of Lumia 920. It earlier came at a price of Rs 38,200 and will now be available at Rs 32,639 and even at lower price online. Nokia Lumia 925 features are:

People will be able to watch the trailer of Satyagraha during the screening of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani on May 31. The movie Satyagraha, directed by Praksh Jha, is a political drama and has Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee and Amrita Rao in the cast. Jha is also the co-producer along with UTV Motion Pictures.
Jha had earlier wanted to show the promo at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The movie, based in Bhopal, revolves around the protest against corruption by the middle class. It is most likely to release on August 15, 2013.
Mumbai Indians became IPL 6 champions by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs. This is the first time they lifted the trophy, and it could not have come at more appropriate time what with Sachin Tendulkar announcing his retirement from this format of the game.
The atmosphere was electrifying before the packed crowd at the Eden Gardens even though the cricketing event was shrouded with the spot-fixing scam and there were apprehensions that some players will be arrested after the match. Kieron Pollard hit a smashing 60 and Mumbai Indians compiled 148 for nine wickets in reply to which CSK posted 125 for 9. It was Dhoni’s knock of 63 which saved the team from posting the lowest score in the event what with eight wickets falling down for only 58 runs in the 12th over.
