A live surgery for the treatment of OSA or Obstructive Sleep Apnea will be done at the Asian Heart Institute and will be viewed by 5,000 doctors across the globe. A live robotic surgery along with lectures by experts will be done for the first time. The surgery will be done on three persons by renowned ENT surgeon Vikas Agrawal and he will demonstrate the issues related to OSA among Indians which leads to a person being without breath at night while sleeping. This situation aggravates with age and the incidence is three times more in men than women. Agrawal has to his credit the fact that he cured OSA both robotically and endoscopically.
There has been violation at the Line of Control again by the Pakistani soldiers in Poonch District of Jammu with heavy firing at both ends. Rocket projectile grenades or RPGs have been fired since 7:30 am today and Indian troops have also responded with heavy firing. This situation is being closely monitored by high officials in the army and round the clock vigil has been beefed up. The situation has resulted in panic in the area as in some places it went on for 5 hours. What is a cause of worry is that this is for the 5th time ceasefire has been violated in this month. Other incidents happened on July 3,12, 22 and 24.
Sensex slumped a staggering 402 points to end at 19,748.19 which were lowest in two weeks. This at the same time snapped the four weeks spike. This was after not so encouraging results of first quarter when the measures of the RBI were initiated to check the rupee fall. The 30 Scrip BSE closed at 20,302.13 on Tuesday but dipped to end at 19,748.19, thus slumping by 401.66 points or 1.99% after the spike of 7.33% or 1375.61 points. The 50 scrip NSE also slumped by 2.37% or 143.00 points to end at lowest in 2 weeks at 5,886.20. If RBI’s measures to check gold imports added positive sentiments the steps taken to restrict the liquidity for controlling the exchange rate’s erratic behavior, dampened the mood and adversely affected the banking stocks.
Rohit Sharma has become the first player in history to have played 100 ODIs and yet to get a chance to play a Test match. He made his debut in 2007. In that year the test team included players like Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly. Rohit got entry in the team when in 2010 Dravid and Laxman did not play in a series but then Rohit got injured and was not able to make his debut in the test match. After that he is yet to make that entry. Ian Harvey of Australia with 73 ODIs without a test match stands second after Rohit.
Noted for subtle performances in his movies, director Shoojit Sircar has followed that trend in "Madras Cafe" for John Abraham's character which is the protagonist in the movie. Sircar stated that often the characters in the movie are quite loud but he had always tried to keep the performances subtle so that it doesn’t appear the person is acting but seems he or she is natural. He also added that it was not difficult for him to do that with John as they had a lot of discussions and rehearsals. The movie deals with terrorism and civil war and John will essay the role of an army officer. The movie will hit theaters on August 23.
