Two Zee News journalists, Sudhir Chaudhary, head of Zee News, and Samir Ahluwalia, head of Zee Business, were sent to two days' police remand by Metropolitan Magistrate Gaumti Manochaon Wednesday. Whereas Delhi Police asked Zee Group chairman Subhash Chandra to get into the investigation of the extortion claims made against the channel by Jindal Group. Zee called the arrests "illegal" and result of pressure from the industrial group owned by Congress MP Naveen Jindal.The two journalists bail pleas was also dismissed.They were arrested on Tuesday on charges of trying to extort Rs.100 crore from Jindal Power and Steel Ltd. in lieu of agreement of not filing news reports linking the firm to the irregular coal blocks allocation.Delhi Police have asked for three days' custody of the journalists so that they can be interrogated. The police stated that while reporting on the matter Zee News misrepresented facts and "there was an element of deception involved".Cases under Sections 384(extortion), 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been imposed on them.
Confident of its numbers, the UPA on Wednesday seemed prepared to face a vote on FDI in multi-brand retail to put an end to the parliament logjam but it was also stated that the final decision on the debate rules was with Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. As per the government sources, a debate on the issue can begin by Monday (Dec 3), and the vote could be held on Tuesday or Wednesday if the government decides for a debate under rule 184.The Speaker can give permission for a debate with voting as a special case as the matter related to an executive decision. UPA partner DMK, which had some doubts on the decision,now supports FDI in retail while the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party do not have a tough stance on the issue.
A 10-storey building, will be constructed in just 48 hours that is what a businessman in Chandigarh has claimed and said that he will prove it.Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal will lay the foundation stone of the 10-storey building, INSTACON on Thursday.The building will be constructed in Industrial Area Phase-I of Mohali town, 10 km from here. Harpal Singh the brain behind this concept said this is the first building of its kind in the country.The entire building is pre-fabricated, manufactured at the factory with doors ready to be fitted in, floors, water supply and wiring components, all ready to be shifted.This technology would ensure owners of such buildings can reap benefits within days and speed up construction of commercial towers, luxury hotels, high-rise buildings, hospitals, educational institutions, universities and retail outlets. Planners and engineers have been invited to witness the incident.
Reliance Money Precious Metals Pvt. Ltd. (RMPM), a Reliance Capital company, and the World Gold Council with a vision to tap Rs.14,000 crore worth unorganized gold market in Haryana and Chandigarh made an announcement that they would collaborate with 10,000 jewelers in the region.Reliance Money officials stated that over 100,000 customers will be included within one year in their gold accumulation plan.They 'Reliance My Gold Plan' provides its customers the opportunity to start gold accumulation using a daily average pricing methodology. A nominal subscription of Rs.1,000 per month transforms into accumulation of gold for as low as Rs.50 per day.
Star Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal stated that the 2012 season has been the best one in her career as she won four tournaments and the Olympic medal in London. Saina released her autobiography "Playing to Win" in the capital on Wednesday.She won the Indonesia Open Super Series Premier, Denmark Open Super Series Premier, Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold, and the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold this year. Her book was released by Yuvraj Singh.
A musical festival at New Delhi to celebrate hundred years of Indian cinema was held to promote cultural ties between India and China. China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, a well known music group from China, blended their tunes with Indian singer Kavita Krishnamurthy's talent, her husband violinist Dr.L.Subramaniama and their son Ambi Subramaniam. The event was UTV Stars and Carnival Media initiative. This will be aired on December 10.

An Information Technology (IT) based skill developmentcenterwhich will work for empowering underprivileged youths was inaugurated here on Wednesday by Microsoft India. Microsoft also awarded cash grants worth $350,000 to the NGOs in India.The 'YouthSpark' centre is located East of Kailash in south Delhi and is the first one among 10 centers that will be set up across the country over the next 18 months for youths between 16 to 24 years. There will be different themes for each center as the theme of this center is IT, others will focus on one trade led enterprise - like retail, hospitality, automobiles etc. The students will be given training in a simulated set-up, and encouraged to start their own group enterprises.
