Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday directed officials of the Delhi Urban Slum Improvement Board (DUSIB) to work in coordination with NGOs so that awareness can be generated about the night shelters for homeless people at Delhi.The chief minister stated that the board should see to it that 84 temporary and 66 permanent night shelters in the city are used to the optimum capacity in winter.She inspected the shelters and stated that all the shelters were fully operational.She also directed DUSIB chief executive Shakti Sinha to check the operations of the shelters on regular basis.
The central government has asked the states to see to that panchayats meet at least four times each year.Panchayati Raj Minister V. Kishore Chandra Deo specified that advisories were sent to all the states. Panchayats were a state subject under the constitution and the state should take action on directions of the central government as per officials. Regular meetings of panchayats were crucial so that the villagers can participate in the decision-making process at the grassroots level.The ministry also directed the states to do video recording of panchayat meetings on sensitive issues such as forest produce, land acquisition, mining and natural resources, which may have an effect of the way of life of the community.
Veteran pitch curator Prabir Mikherjee has decided to stay away from the ground for a month after Indian captain M.S. Dhoni's insisted on a square turner from the opening day of the Eden Gardens Test against England. He initially stated health reasons for staying away but later on revealed this and termed the demand as "immoral and illogical".He stated,"Dhoni is openly asking for a square turner from the very first day. This is immoral. You (organisers) have taken money for a five-day Test match. But Dhoni is asking for square turner where the match will end in three days. You are robbing people of two days play." He said he had never done something like this in life and also stated that every place has a different climatic conditions, what was there in Mumbai may not be there in Kolkata.
Good reviews to exciting response, Aamir Khan's "Talaash" seems to have met the viewers' imagination even though it has come out during non-festive season. Trade pundits say that the film is expected to collect Rs.15 crores on its opening day.Normally Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's films release during holiday season in a bid to attract more audiences, however, Aamir decided to release"Talaash" during a non-festive weekend.The suspense thriller which has Rani Mukherji and Kareena Kapoor, is poised to beat the opening collections of "Raaz" (Rs. 10.50 crore), "Bol Bachchan" (Rs 11.75 crore), "Cocktail"( Rs 10.75 crore), "Raajneeti" ( Rs 10.50 crore), "Barfi!" (Rs 8.5 crore) - which too released on a non-holiday Friday.
The Punjab entrepreneur kept his promise and in just 48 hours a 10-floor building was created in Mohali. Instacon the red and grey facade building is situated 10 km from Chandigarh and work on it started at 430pm on Thursday. All the 10 floors were constructed when the deadline approached though the glass-panes on the windows and other fittings inside were left behind. Pre-fabricated material, including 200 tonnes of steel has been used in this building.Entrepreneur Harpal Singh, who has a Rs.1,000-crore infrastructure company, had promised to construct 10-storey building within 48 hours.The material which were used was manufactured in the past two months and in the building no bricks or sand has been used.The outer wall is a double-skinned PUF panel. Cost remains the same as traditionally created buildings. This idea struck him when it took him two years to construct his own house.His company, Synergy, took over Britain-based Thrislington Products, a re-locatable steel partition manufacturer, to form the new infrastructure company here.

The government announced that there will be a demand for 4.7 lakh cyber security professionals by 2015 for securing the IT infrastructure in the country. The professionals will also be needed for the export market by the year 2015. Minister of State for Communications and IT Milind Deora stated in a written reply in Rajya Sabha that there were incidences of cyber attacks of different nature and to counteract this experts were needed. Ministry of Home Affairs supports the setting up of cyber crime police stations and cyber crime investigations and training forensic facilities.Initiative will be taken to create a National Centre of Excellence which will offer cyber forensic services and act as national research and training centre on cyber forensics.
Director Manish Jha is all ready to direct a wacky comedy after a sensitive movie on female foeticide, "Matrubhoomi - A Nation Without Women".The script of the movie is currently being written and will be locked soon, its writer Sumit Saxena informed.The movie is based in rural India and is about gangsters and their funny dreams. Saxena was the script writer for "Pyaar Ka Punchnama". Saxena said the movie will go on floors at the end of February next year. After"Matrubhoomi..." and "Anwar" this is a different genre of movie which Jha will be directing.
