Dalhousie- Chamba is one of the popular excursion routes that take the tourist through the mountainous regions of Dalhousie to the city of Chamba. The city of Chamba is located at a distance of 56 kilometers from the hill town of Dalhousie. With the religious site, architectural extravaganzas and the exotic palaces, the city of Chamba is known as the ornamental jewel in the heart of the state. The foundation of the city was laid in the 10th century by Raja Sahil Verman who named the city after his daughter, Champavati. The Chaugan or the promenade lies in the center of the town. The Lakshminarayan temples retain the old world charm of the 10th and the 11th centuries in which it was constructed. The temples are dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva and Vishnu. The interiors of the palace are ornamented with inlaid motifs and designs that are typical of the archaic style of architecture of the region.
