Dehradun Media


The dawn of 1st November 2000, saw the emergence of three new states Uttaranchal, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. Since then Dehradun media incurred its much needed recognition and acceptance on a national scale.

The Dehradun media along with all sorts of commercial bodily functions experienced an intriguing resurrection. This whole new resurgence in the field of business with all the companies investing into new ventures, countless financial institutions initiating new subdivisions in the state capitals, The Doon Classified, which only carried advertisements, now has an airing of approximately 30,000 weekly transcripts.

Earlier the Dehradun media and in other small cities comprised of newspapers which had to scuffle among themselves to gobble up whatever little advertisement provided by the state owing to its poor association with the state capital. But the media of Dehradun got its much needed thrust as Dehradun was made the state capital.

Dehradun media now has 11 newspapers and 84 weeklies to its credit. Some of them are:-
  • The Doon Classified


    Owned by ex-municipal councilor Dinanath Saluja, it is mainly dedicated to different advertisements with an isolated column news per page. Its number of pages vary according to the season starting from 24 to 48. At the brink of its emergence it was free but now each copy costs 50 paise. The publication charges Rs 5000 for a full page advertisement and Rs100 for smaller advertisements.

    Published in 2 languages-Hindi and English.

  • Valley Mail


    Published in Hindi.

  • Uttarnchal ki Ore


    Consists of four pages printed in Hindi.

  • Shikhar Sandesh


    Published in Hindi.

  • Himachal Times


    It has editions in the capital Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Amongst the less popular Dehradun media publications are Khabar Laye Hai, Doon Ashk, Doon Prasidi, Doon Darpan , Doon Vani and many more.
