Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium


Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium is one of the well known cricket stadiums in India. This stadium is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. It was founded in the year 1883. Major national and international cricketing events ( matches) are organized here.

Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi has got its name from Feroz Shah Tughlaq, one of the emperors of Delhi ( 1351-1388). The first cricket match played in this stadium was between India and West Indies( led by John Goddard). It was a test match, which was played in November, 1948. The first one day international match was played between India and SriLanka on September 15, 1982.

  • In 2004-2005 Pakistan made the highest one day total of 303 playing against the home team( India)
  • India in 1987-1988 made the lowest test score of 75 runs against West Indies.
