Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium


Constructed in the year 1982, the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium is located in the Indraprastha estate in the eastern part of the capital. It is one of the most important Delhi sports stadium, which has provisions for hosting all kinds of sporting events in Delhi.

Having an expanse of 102 acres, the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium has a seating capacity of 25,000 people. Designed to accommodate the maximum number of people during peak seasons, the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium is the repository of a designers creativity and an engineers ingenuity. Built for the purpose of Asiad games, the stadium has undergone numerous renovations. It is presently bifurcated by sound proof and fireproof walls.

Equipped with the necessary lighting system and audio-visual transmission facilities, it plays the appropriate host to sports events like Volley Ball, Gymnastic, Badminton and many such sports of their kind. It is due to play host to the Netball Competitions of Commonwealth Games in 2010.
