Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) was inaugurated on 17th of August 1965 by late Smt. Indira Gandhi. This institute was set up as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi is controlled by the Autonomous Society and its executive council

About Indian Institute of Mass Communication



The primary aim behind the establishment of IIMC was to provide proper training and research opportunities in the field of mass communication. The framework of Indian Institute of Mass Communication was developed by a group of mass communication experts and also UNESCO representatives. This team was headed by Dr. Wilbur Schramm.
