Delhi University


Delhi University is one of the prestigious universities of India. Established in the year of 1922 as a unitary, teaching and residential university by an Act of the then Central Legislative Assembly, DU offers high standards of education. Not only brilliant students from all over the country are found,the University of Delhi also has some of the best academicians as the faculties. The brilliant curricula attract students from all over the country as well as overseas.

St. Stephens College founded in 1881, Hindu College founded in 1899 and Ramjas College established in 1917 were the first colleges to get affiliated to Delhi University. The University began with only two faculties in Arts and Science and about 750 students. From 1933 till today the main Delhi University Campus is in the Viceregal Lodge Estate. Delhi University at present has 14 faculties, 86 academic departments and 79 colleges in the whole city with a student strength of 2,20,000.

In order to cope with the great expansion, Delhi University now has two campuses, the North Campus in North Delhi and South Campus in South Delhi. Admission to DU depends completely on merit.
