The Indian road network is the second largest in the world and covers a total stretch of 33 lakh kms. The national highways have total length of 70,548 kms, the state highways have a stretch of 1,31,899 kms. The major district roads and rural roads cover 4,67,763 kms and 26,50,000 kms respectively.
