The Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur came into existence in 1963. Also known as MNIT, this institute of technology is 1 among the 20 NIT's that have been established in India. MHRD under the Government of India funds this institute completely.

Nestled within lush greenery, the campus of the institute sprawls over Extending 312 acres of land. From its very inception the Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur aims at upgrading the technical education and other facets of India and particularly Rajasthan.

The Institute was recognized both as a National Institute of Technology and a Deemed University on 26th June, 2002. It has also been given the status of an ‘Institute of National Importance’ by the Indian Government. The institute has an “Entrepreneurship Development Cell” that has been set up to spread “entrepreneurship”, through imparting education, training and research to the science students, Engineers and Managers. The Cell is sponsored by “National Science and Technology Board (NSTEDB)” under the Department Of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India. Besides this the institute is also replete with an “Industry and Technical Partnership Cell for the interaction programmes between the institute and the industry.
