Mangalore University


Established on September 10, 1980, the sole objective of the Mangalore University was to provide higher education to the residents of Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts.

All kinds of advanced academic studies and related research works are done in the campus of the Mangalore University. In spite of being relatively young, the University in Mangalore has earned immense fame and respect.

In a short period of time, the University of Mangalore has been able to bring under its ambit some of the oldest and most reputed educational institutions of the city. The University at Mangalore has a total of 98 affiliated colleges among which, 2 are constituent colleges. Apart from offering graduate courses, this highly esteemed university also offers Post Graduate courses in 22 disciplines.

The various revenue districts like Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Udipi fall under the jurisdiction of the Mangalore University. The campus of the Mangalore University extends across an area that measures 350 acres. The campus is also sometimes regarded as Mangalagangothri. This university is situated at Konaje, on the top of a hill.
