University of Hyderabad which was established in the year 1974 by an “Act of Parliament” is a premier educational institution in the field of post graduate education and research. It is a Central University which is financed by UGC. The university is situated at a distance of 20kms from Hyderabad, at a place called GachiBowli. The University also has “The Golden Threshold” which is the “city campus”.
The aims and objectives of the University of Hyderabad are to distribute and advance knowledge by providing instructions and all kinds of research facilities in various branches of education. Further Hyderabad University also aims at making provisions for the integrated programs in Science and Humanity and promotes interdisciplinary research and studies within the university.

The present Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad is Dr. R. Chidambaram and the Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Seyed E. Hasnain. Hyderabad University is the member of the “Association of Commonwealth Universities” and the “Association of Indian Universities”. There is a staff college which functions within the University of Hyderabad, to check and improve on the teaching standards in various colleges. The university has also been ranked as No. 1 in India in the field of research and development. It also received the top grade accreditation from NAAC.
