Overview/History

The Taj Mahotsav is celebrated every year since 1992 at Shilpgram near the Eastern gate of the Taj Mahal. The 10 days long carnival provides a vibrant platform which showcases India's rich art, craft, cultures, cuisine, dance and music. The enchanting romance of the Taj Mahal along with the festivities of Taj Mahotsav makes it an amazing festival. The carnival is organized by Uttar Pradesh Tourism in order to boost tourism in India.

Celebration

Taj Mahotsav provides an ultimate platform to worldwide artists to showcase their craftsmanship. Renowned musicians, dancers, artists and chefs participate in this festival to offer visitors a spectacular experience. Various performances and cultural evenings are organized during this festival from artists of varied regions. Many well-known artists and musicians, along with new artists and unexplored folk talent from various regions have charmed the Taj Mahotsav in previous years.

Besides the performances, diverse regions put up a variety of amazing crafts like wood carvings, marble carvings, pottery, brass and metal ware, handmade carpets and much more. The Taj Mahotsav is the ultimate place for shopaholics too. One can shop for unique knick-knacks, jewellery, traditional folk dresses, paintings, show pieces, lamps, old and contemporary furniture, linens and much more. The Mahotsav also puts up a wonderful display of scrumptious cuisine from different regions. There is also a fair hosted where kids and adults can both enjoy thrilling rides.

The Taj Mahotsav Entry fee:

  • Single Adult- Rs.40
  • Children up to 5 years- Free
  • Foreign Tourist- Free
  • Group of 50 School children in school uniform- Rs.300 (two teachers have free entry)

No separate ticket is required for entry to cultural programs Tickets can be purchased from the ticket windows on all entry gates
