Vadodara, the other name of Baroda is situated at the bank of Vishwamitri river. Vadodara is the third densely populated town of Gujarat on the south-east of Ahmedabad. Vadodara is called the Sayaji Nagari or the cultural capital of Gujarat. Previously, Vadodara or Baroda was said to be the capital city of Gaekwar State. Vadodara is one of the cosmopolitan and industrial cities of India.

Vadodara occupies an area of 148.95 square km and has a population of 1.6 millions according to 2001 Census. Vadodara is well known for its palaces, parks, temples and museums. Vadodara is also famous for education. Vadodara is well connected with major cities of India by domestic airlines. Vadodara is also a major railway junction in the Western Railway.

There are three main seasons in Vadodara namely summer, monsoon and winter. The climate of Vadodara is dry. The average summer temperature of Vadodara varies between 36 °C to 23 °C and the winter temperature varies between 30 °C to 15 °C. The average rainfall of Vadodara is 93 cm.
