Best time to visit

Gurgaon witnesses a number of weather condition during different times of the year. April to June is considered to be the peak summer seasons and the temperature ranges from 30-45 degree Celsius. While July to August are rainy months and are humid, hence the months from September to November and February to March are best to visit the place and are quite cool and pleasant. On an average a person would need 4-5 days to enjoy all the sights of Gurgaon.

  • Summers are quite intense in Gurgaon, so it is ideal to carry water whenever you go out. Cotton clothing is apt for the summers. Woollen clothes are must for winters if you are planning to travel to Gurgaon.
  • A certain level of social interaction should always be maintained with the local Gurgaon people.
  • Sohna Sulphur Spring is a must visit.
  • The visitors must not harm the surroundings.
  • Language is not a problem as Hindi and English are widely spoken here.
  • Food is not an issue, as Gurgaon has multi cuisine restaurants.

By Air

Indira Gandhi International Airport has a good connectivity with Gurgaon, it lies just across the border of Gurgaon, and hence enhances the number of visitors every year. Few of the airlines that provide a comfortable journey to the Indira Gandhi International airport are: Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Air India and IndiGo Airlines.

By Train

Gurgaon has a railway station of its own which is located at a distance of around 3 km from the old Gurgaon city. It is situated on the Delhi-Rewari-Jaipur Railway line route at the colony Bhim Garh Kheri part 2, connecting Rewari towards south and Delhi Cantt towards north. It also provides modern facilities like computerized reservation system to the passengers but receives 5 trains a day. This station is basically used by the local people of Gurgaon and the nearby cities. You will easily get autos and Haryana Roadways buses to take you to different places in the city.

By Road

Gurgaon is well connected to Delhi and other cities by road. There is a good connectivity of Gurgaon from Delhi because of the National Highway 8, an eight-lane expressway connects Delhi to Gurgaon and Jaipur and also connects Dhaula Kuan to Gurgaon at a distance of 28 km and private buses are also available from Sarai Kale Khan. Traffic jams are common during rush hour and the road conditions are not adaptable to the monsoons as there is water logging. And also Haryana roadways buses and DTC buses are also available. The Gurgaon bus stand is quite near to the police lines. Gurgaon bus depot is one of the oldest in Haryana.

There are many new low floor buses that are being purchased by the Gurgaon administration and Haryana roadways, that connects MG road to many of the business areas in Gurgaon, and Delhi Transport Corporation also runs a number of buses on expressway that connects Delhi and Gurgaon.

Shopping in Gurgaon

Gurgaon is very famous for its shopping; it is a paradise for shopping lovers. The place has wide range of malls that offers almost all sorts of Indian as well as foreign brands. There are number of malls that attract tourists. Shopping in Gurgaon can be slightly expensive, but still there are shopping options available who does not want to spend much the shopping.

Most of the malls are situated at the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road (MG road). One of the most convenient ways to get to these malls is to take small mini buses from Gurgaon bus stand near Jain temple. There are a number of well known malls like: Ambience mall, DLF shopping mall, DLF grand mall and many more.

If one is interested in shopping for jewellery, the Gold Souk is the right place to visit. Apart from shopping these malls also offers a wide range of pubs and restaurants.

Popular restaurants like Haldirams, Bikanerwala and Om sweets, etc are also available, offering good, healthy multi cuisine at a reasonable price which can fit everybody's pocket.

There is a famous and well known market of sec-14 apart from the usual malls. Shopping in this market is a different experience from the usual shopping in malls. There is also another market on the Delhi-Jaipur road near Payal cinemas. One can also shop at the Sadar Bazaar market near the Gurgaon bus stand.

Ambience Mall

Ambience mall in Gurgaon was opened in 2007, till now it has been running successfully. The major attractive factor is that each floor is a kilometer long. Ambience mall has everything a shopper is looking for, from good food to shopping, to pubs and restaurants, everything under one roof. Visiting Ambience mall can be a great experience for shopping lovers. Ambience mall also has a very popular bowling alley named Blu-O.

MGF Metropolitan Mall

Metropolitian mall in Gurgaon is a super mall with over 150 shopping stores. Metropolitan mall has a huge parking space when compared to other malls in Gurgaon. The mall has the collection of all famous shopping brands, both Indian and foreign.

DLF Mega Mall

The major attraction of the mall is its food court; the food court here serves 16 different types of cuisine both oriental and Indian. DLF mega mall is also famous for its national and international brands. The mall is less crowded on weekends specially, as compared to other Malls in Gurgaon.
