Haridwar Tourism

Haridwar tourism has always remained a favorite for any Indian as the city is one of the most sacred lands in the Hindu religious pantheon. Haridwar is also the getaway to the four most sacred pilgrimages of India, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, collectively called the Chardham. This makes Haridwar a famous tourist spot and pilgrimage center. It is also one of the venues for Kumbh Mela that sees a mass spillover of millions of people in Haridwar.

A vacation in Haridwar presents a medley of people from all corners of India and across, painting a canvas with religious frenzy. According to popular Hindu belief, a bath in the Ganges of Haridwar would relieve one from the cycle of birth and rebirth thereby attaining salvation. This brings hordes of Hindu pilgrims to this sacred land. The best time for a Haridwar vacation is between the months of October and March when the weather remains pleasant, but however, Haridwar welcome visitors all through the year.

Haridwar has numerous places of religious and tourist interest within the city itself that makes for an interesting tour. The city is well connected with the rest of India by regular trains. Buses ply from Delhi, Mumbai, Agra, Varanasi, Ujjain, Lucknow, Amritsar and many other important cities of North India. Within Haridwar, one can opt for local transports like private buses, auto rickshaw, rickshaws, tanga, cabs and tempos. There are numerous hotels catering to a wide range of tourists. Vegetarian food, however, is the common norm. There are various travel agencies that provide day trips and excursions in and around Haridwar.
