The road transport in the state of Haryana has developed to include scheduled buses traversing distant kilometers into the cities and remote villages of the state. The state government has established various depots of which the Gurgaon Roadways Depot is the oldest in the state. These depots are furnished with all sorts of facilities for the traveler like separate rest rooms for men and women, telephone booths, toilets, drinking water facilities, food and drink stalls and newspaper stalls. The Gurgaon Roadways Depot alone has 197 buses operating from its premises. These depots generate employment for the people of the state and also accounts for the state revenue through passenger tax, token tax and interest on capital.
