Tourism in Haryana developed as a programed tourism for the highway travelers. The presence of National Highways across the state of Haryana has facilitated the concept of highway tourism. To benefit the traveler, the tourism department set up tourist complexes along the highways and also developed recreational centers within the districts. The citizens of the state along with the visitors benefited immensely from these sites. Haryana is known for its religious centers. The government has realized the importance of the pilgrim spots in Haryana and has emphasized on their maintenance. The cultural spots have also been developed by the tourism department of Haryana.
