The government of Haryana has selected the pilgrimage site of Adi Badri as one of the eight cultural centers to be built up under the project - 'Resurgence of Saraswati'. The main objective of the project is to promote and protect the rich cultural heritage of the state and country. The Adi Badri is located twenty Kilometers from the north of Bilaspur in the Yamunanagar district. The ancient site is well connected by a well maintained road on the Bilaspur - Nahan link road.
According to the archaeologists Adi Badri is the place where the Saraswati River emerged from the foothills of the Shivalik Ranges. The Adi Badri in Yamunanagar, Haryana is a considered to be one of the sacred pilgrimage spots in the country and the beauty of it has been enhanced by the construction of the Saraswati Sarovar. The lake has been constructed at a place where Saraswati River appears in the Himalayan Glacier plains. Pilgrims flock the area during the Vasanta Panchami and the Karthik Purnima. Thousand of pilgrims bathe in the lake and float lamps presenting a lovely sight in the nights. Very near to the place is a Gurudwara, which was graced with a visit by Guru Govind Singh. The Adi Badri is believed to be the ancient aboard of Badri Nath thus making it an important religious destination.
