Jain Temples

Defining the sacred faith of one of the oldest religions of the world, the Jain Temples, set in different parts of Haryana, attracts huge number of followers as well as common tourists round the year. The major excavation works in the recent past have marked the Hissar district as a prime spot of Jainism.

Evolved over a time period of thousands of centuries, Jainism today boasts of a considerable number of followers who not only believe but also spread the holy sermons of the faith in all corners of the world.

From many decades Haryana has remained a cradle of multi-religious sects. Celebrating different religions, different ritual and different customs, the people of Haryana always inhabited the place harmoniously.

The Digambar Jain Temple at the village of Hansi in Hissar has revealed a significant evidence of the existence of Jainism in the place decades back. The historical fort of Hansi, which dates back to the times of eighth to tenth century, has been found with 39 ashta dhatu idols and 14 brass statues of Jain Tirthankars. This invariably ratified the reign of Jain followers in the bygone era.

Also, the various Jain Temples that are found in and around Hissar, have pointed towards one common fact that once upon a time, the Jain faith was quite famous in Haryana. Although today only a few structural evidences are present to support the existence of Jain Temples, yet the idols of Jain Tirthankars seem enough to back the statement.

Tourists who wish the explore the rare features of Punjab, frequently come to Hansi. Providing the visitors a scope to witness the best of specimens, the Jain Temples beautifully widens the horizon of Temple tour in Haryana.
