Karna Lake

Karna Lake (Uchana) is located in the district of Karnal the state of Haryana. Karnal has recently come in the global limelight, as it was the hometown of Indian born astronaut Kalpana Chawla who perished in the ill-fated Columbia spaceship disaster. Karna, a character from the Mahabharata, supposedly founded Karnal.

Karna Lake is located approximately 125 Km from New Delhi, the capital of India. The lake lies en-route to the picturesque vales of Kashmir and the revered shrine of Vaishno Devi.

Karna Lake is mainly frequented by the populace of New Delhi and the suburbs. The placid waters of the lake provide a welcome relief to the working population of the capital.

There are several recreational facilities available in the lake that are an adventure lover's delight like, boating, angling, etc. A favorite pastime of the patrons is picnicking in the lake grounds. Nowadays, this lake is also a location for business conferences away from the hustle and bustle of New Delhi.

The weather patterns of this region are quite extreme, in accordance to the wide-ranging climate of North India. The summers are unnaturally hot. The rainfall is meager and the winters are quite frigid. But the lake grounds have soothing breezes all throughout the year.

The roads leading to Karna Lake are excellent and the communication is top end. The nearest airport is Indira Gandhi international airport.

Karna Lake, a treasure trove of natural delights is a treasure troves for tourists on a North Indian sojourn.
