Sangat Sahib Gurudwara

Sangat Sahib Gurudwara is considered a revered place of Sikhism. Explaining the immense historical importance of the Sikh religion, the Gurudwara of Sangat Sahib stands tall on the pristine land of Nanded. Today the structure is seen as a prime symbol of the eminence of Sikhism.

The term Sangat connotes to the company of righteous and good-hearted people. The folk tales of Nanded link the past of the Gurudwara with the presence of a Sangat in the place, much before the arrival of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. While leading his men in the battle with the Mughals, Guru Gobind Singh Ji came to the land of Nanded to endow the soldiers with rewards.

In the later periods various excavation works indicated that the treasures carried by Guru Ji were distributed to the soldiers on this very place. The shield with which the Guru handed over wages to around 300 cavalrymen is still found in the Sangat Sahib Gurudwara. It is believed that along with his own men, Guru Gobind Singh Ji also offered monetary rewards to the Royal Army of Bahadur Shah which was assisting him enthusiastically in his brave mission. Even today the event has a considerable significance in the pages of Punjab's history.

Sanctifying the entire Nanded town, Sangat Sahib Gurudwara is visited by both Indian and non-Indian travelers. The mystique legend of the treasure trove which once existed in the place adds an extra appeal to the holy Gurudwara of Sangat Sahib and helps in attracting more and more tourists to its premises round the year.

Living up to its reputation of being the place of sacred figures, Sangat Sahib Gurudwara elegantly defines the holy bliss of the veneered leaders of Sikhism.
