Sis Ganj Gurudwara

Sis Ganj Gurudwara is dedicated to the respected Master of Sikhs - Guru Teg Bahadur. Set in the district of Ambala, this Gurudwara is adorned by the adjoining pilgrimage site of Anandpur Sahib. Symbolizing the martyrdom of Guru Ji, Sis Ganj Gurudwara attracts followers from all over the world.

The tale of the Gurudwara of Sis Ganj dates back to 1675 when the reign of the Mughal Empire was on its summit. In order to prove his religious domination, the then Emperor ordered Guru Teg Bahadur to convert himself into a pious Islam follower.

On refusal, the Emperor instructed his soldiers to behead the Guru. On the eve of this tragic incident, the disciples of Guru Ji were barred from touching his dead body. But two of the brave followers managed to carry the head of their Guru and brought it to the holy site of Chak Nananki near Anandpur Sahib.

In the later periods, a Sikh follower took the initiative to erect a Gurudwara on the spot where the cremation of Guru Teg Bahadur was done. Guru Gobind Singh Ji came to this Gurudwara and from here, it is believed, he begun describing the importance of the holy sermons of Guru Teg Bahadur.

While there is one Gurudwara in the Chandni Chowk of Delhi, the original Sis Ganj Gurudwara is known to stand near the holy land of Anandpur Sahib only. The Sikh devotees, not only from various parts of India, but also from abroad visit this holy shrine atleast once in their lifetime.

Located in the pristine landscape of Ambala, Sis Ganj Gurudwara of Haryana welcomes people from all castes, creeds and religion since the intrinsic message of Sikhism lies in secular demeanor, peace and brotherhood.
