Tomb of Khwaja Pir

The "Tomb of Khwaja Pir" represents the glorious historical and cultural past of our country. Constructed in the 13th century, the tomb was dedicated to the "Khawaja Abdul Shankar". The mausoleum of the "Khawaja Pir" has a great religious significance.

Apart from being one of the sacred places for the Muslims, the "Tomb of "Khwaja Pir" is also of considerable importance to the followers of the Sikh religion. The great religious leader of the Sikhs "Guru Nanak Ji" took shelter in the tomb with his two most devoted disciples Bala and Madana for about forty days.

The "Tomb of Khwaja Pir" was built to pay obeisance to the great religious leader of the Muslim, who had come to India with the mighty and valiant "Muhammad Ghuri". Muhammad Ghuri was so impressed and influenced with the preachings of Khwaja Abdul Shankar that he insisted for the company of the great religious leader on his every entourage and sojourns to different parts of the world.

A huge Mosque was erected just adjacent to the tomb in the 16th Century. Devotees from all over the place flocked to the "Tomb of Khwaja Pir" and the "Mosque" to seek divine blessings and eternal happiness. The beautiful gardens and the serene atmosphere of the place made the devotees experience an intense sense of pleasure and satisfaction.

However, at present the place has no sign of the "Tomb of Khwaja Pir" or the Mosque of the ancient times. Nevertheless the ardent devotees of the Muslim and the Sikh religion visit the ruins of the place to experience the divine presence of the "Supreme Being".
