Himachal Pradesh Districts

Himachal Pradesh has been administratively divided into twelve distinct districts. Almost all the districts of the state are blessed with the bounty of nature. Himachal Pradesh has a well organized and cohesive body of administrators who monitor the social, economic and political developments of the state.

The districts of Himachal Pradesh are further divided into several sub districts for administrative convenience. The districts of Himachal Pradesh are:

  • Chamba- One of the most beautiful districts of the state, Chamba is known for its colorful fairs, architecturally rich temples, exotic natural beauty and adventour tourism
  • Kangra- The Kangra district is famous for its rich reserve of art and craft which has an internationally acclaimed status. Endowed with scenic beauty, kangra attracts many tourist
  • Una- Located on the south west of Himachal Pradesh, Una district has many famous temples that draws numerous devotees all over the year
  • Lahaul and Spiti- The twin districts of Lahaul and Spiti is blessed with exotic mountain ranges and enchanting lakes which are very appealing for the tourist.
  • Kullu- A gateway to the famous hill resort of Manali, Kullu is well known for the elegantly designed Kullu shawls and caps
  • Mandi- The beautiful district of Mandi is an important commercial hub of Himachal Pradesh. Mandi draws several tourist through out the year who are completely overwhelmed at the sight of the district
  • Bilaspur- Bilaspur is credited of being the first well planned town of Himachal Pradesh. Located in the valley of River Sutlej, Bilaspur draws many tourist from far and near
  • Solan- The district of Solan is famous for many temples that attracts many devotees who visit the religious monuments to seek divine blessings. Solan has a well organized tourism industry that earns lots of revenue for the state
  • Kinnaur- Popularly known as the abode of God for the beautiful scenic beauty, Kinnaur bears relics to the rich historical and cultural past of the bygone golden era
  • Shimla- Once the summer capital of India during the British Period, Shimla has attained the status of a capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla is a famous tourist destination that attracts several visitors because of its excellent scenic beauty and rich cultural past
  • Sirmour- The Sirmour district is well known for the various fairs that reflect the rich tradition of the people of the district. Sirmour is also credited with many beautiful tourist spots that draws several visitors through out the year
  • Hamirpur- Hamirpur is known for its pleasant weather and tall pine trees that adds to the beauty of the place. Hamirpur is blessed with many important places of tourist interest that speaks volumes about the rich past of the district
