Situated at an altitude of 400 to 5500 meters, the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, enthralls and enchants the visitors with its captivating beauty. One of the most populated district of the state, Kangra has its headquarters at Dharamshala, which is noted for beautiful landscape and picturesque natural beauty. The Kangra district is surrounded by Chamba in the north, Lahul and Spiti in the northeast, Kullu in the east, Mandi to the southeast and Hamirpur and Una in the south.
Spread over an area of 5,74,700 hectares, the district of Kangra encompasses a total population of 1,338,538 lakhs. Agriculture is the main backbone of the economy of the Kangra valley. Originally known as Nagarkot, Kangra came into prominence as a distinct district of Himachal Pradesh on the 1st of September in the year, 1972. - Kangra Fort- Built by the mighty ruler, Raja Susharma Chand Katoch, the Kangra Fort bears relics of the rich architectural accomplishment and engineering skill of the bygone golden era of our country
- Dharamshala- The cradle of the Buddhist civilization, Dharmashala captures the imagination of the poet with its bewitching beauty. Dharamshala is endowed with the bounty of nature which draws several tourists through out the year
Kangra has a rich tradition which is glorified through the attractive folk dance, popularly known as the Jhamakada. The district is a perfect blend of traditional and modern values.
