Sirmaur Tourism


The district of Sirmaur lies in the south east corner of the state of Himachal Pradesh. It stretches between 33º22'30" and 31º01'20" North Longitude and between 77º01'12" and 77º49'40" East Longitude. The district is wedged between the Shimla district in North, the River Tons and River Yamuna in the East, Ambala district of Haryana in the South-West and Solan district in North-West. The altitude of Sirmaur varies from 900 meters to 3,994 meters above the sea -level.The district headquarter is in Nahan. It is home to 4,58,593 people as per the Census of 2001, the sex ratio being 901 females to every 1000 males. The literacy rate in the district of Sirmaur is 70.4% in aggregate.

Animal husbandry including poultry and cattle breeding are common occupations for the rural peoples of Sirmaur.
