Solan Tourism

The district of Solan in Himachal Pradesh stretches over a geographical area of 1936 sq.km. at an altitude ranging between 300 meters to 3,000 meters. The district co-ordinates are from 30º05' to 31º15' North Latitude and from 76º42' to 77º20' East Longitude. The district headquarter of the same name is situated at an altitude of 1,463 meters. This beautiful hill district is bounded by Shimla district on the North, by Ropar district of Punjab and Ambala district of Haryana on the South, by Sirmaur district on the East, by a touch of Mandi district on the North-East and Bilaspur district on the West.

Solan is situated conveniently midway between Kalka and Shimla, thus being accessed by a lot of tourists. The green mountains of Solan offer great trekking trails and its streams are well stocked with a variety of game fish. The district of Solan lying in the catchment areas of Satluj, Yamuna and Ghagar and is home to 5, 00,557 people as per Census 2001. The sex ratio of the district counts to be 852 females to every 1000 males.
