Trigarta

There have been evidences of ancient civilization in the enchanting land of Himachal Pradesh. The hilly lands of Himachal Pradesh have been the home for many different clans. One of the major races that dwelled in the base of the hills is the Trigarta. The clan, Trigarta is one of the groups that fall under the Early Period of the Himachal history.

Apart from the Trigarta of Early Period, the other groups of the age of Early Period are the Audumbras, Kulindas, Kuluta, Gupta Empire and the time of Harshavardhana, the King. The people of Trigarta lived in the foothills of the Himachal Mountains. The area, which the Trigarta inhabited, was irrigated by three graceful rivers. These rivers are Ravi, Satluj and Beas. These rivers helped the Trigartas to carry on with their civilization and culture largely. The three water bodies naturally irrigated the land in which they resided. They have been an individualistic clan and Trigarta was an independent republic.

The Indian state of Himachal Pradesh has a history, which is very rich and varied. An overview of the consecutive ages in the history of the present day Himachal Pradesh will provide a clear idea of the long journey that Himachal has traveled through, till date. The journey of Himachal Pradesh is divided into different periods, which are known as Prehistory, Vedic Era, Early History, Rajput Period Mughal Rule, Anglo Gorkha and Anglo Sikh War, Revolt of 1857, British Rule, Freedom Struggle and the current period of Post Independence.

The Kuluta falls under the period of the Early History of the state of Himachal Pradesh. The other periods of Himachal Pradesh’s Early History is again divided into as six parts. These are the Audumbras, Trigarta, Kuluta, Kulindas, Gupta Empire and the period of Harshavardhana.
