Politics of Himachal Pradesh

Politics has played a vital role in the all-round development of Himachal Pradesh. Being dominated by several state level and national Political parties, the state today showcases an effective Assembly. The present day Politics of the place is governed by the Indian National Congress which came into power in 2003.

Apart from the Congress parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is only surviving Opposition in the place. Mostly dominated by these two Political Parties, the state also houses many local parties.

Himachal Pradesh came under the governance of Indian judiciary just after the independence of the nation. With the passage of time, the place gained the recognition of a state. Today, like any other state of India, Himachal Pradesh has a well-built infrastructure of Politics.

Congress had spread its influence over the state from a long time. The famous leaders like Padam Dev, Shivanand Ramaul, Dr. Y S Parmar, Satya Dev, Sada Ram Chandel, Purnanand, Pahari Gandhi Baba Kanshi Ram and Thakur Hazara Singh, all have served the state under the canopy of Congress Party.

Shimala, Mandi, Hamirpur and Kangra are the four lok Sabha constituencies of Himachal Pradesh Politics, while there are 68 Assembly Constituencies that are present in the state.

Steadily moving towards a full-fledged domain of functional Politics, Himachal Pradesh emphasizes on an all-encompassing growth of its regional corners.
