Both the Electronic and the Print Media of Himachal Pradesh are developing rapidly. The Media in the state is very efficient. There is an active group of publishers and journalists in the state. Various Newspapers and magazines are published form Himachal Pradesh.

The are also some Newspapers that are published every fortnight in the local languages. There are also several news dailies available in more than one Indian language in Himachal Pradesh.

Television and Radio have also become quite popular with the people of the state. Apart from the Doordarshan there are many other channels in the state. These channels are provided by the Multi System Operator in the state. Hindi, Nepali, English and other international channels are provided by the local cable operators. Through these Television channels the people of Himachal Pradesh stay connected to the rest of the world despite of being situated in a remote location.

There are local FM stations in some of the cities of Himachal Pradesh. A private FM station is there in Simla. These stations bring programs in local languages to air. There are special programs during the festivals and important fairs of the state.

News reach the people of Himachal Pradesh not only through the newspapers that are published in various languages but the Television and the Radio channels also broadcast the daily News. The Media here makes the daily News available in Hindi, Urdu and English to the people of this state.

Hindi is the most common language used by the Media in Himachal Pradesh.
