Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission


The first Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission was set up in the year 1994. The commission has made several recommendations to the state government of Himachal Pradesh which the government has accepted and are implementing. The second finance commission is presently working.

The Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission was instituted on 23rd April in the year 1994. The commission assists the government in financial planning. The budget of the state government of Himachal Pradesh is planned with the help of the recommendations made by the Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission. It is required for the commission to plan for the optimum utilization of all the resources and grants that the central government approves for the state. The commission also plans for the equal distribution of finance in all sectors of the state.

The first Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission submitted its report on the financial study of the state in November of the year 1996. The state government of Himachal Pradesh accepted the recommendations of the commission in totality in 1997. The Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission recommended the utilization of Rs 6788.88 lakhs within the period of 1996-1997 to 2000-2001. Recommendations made in this plan included the grant of the Tenth Finance Commission of the central government. The term period of the first Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission terminated and prompted the government to set the second commission on 25th May, 1998.

The recommendations of the Himachal Pradesh State Finance Commission is accepted and implemented by the government of Himachal Pradesh as it ensures development of all sectors of the state.
