The picturesque of state of Himachal Pradesh is noted for its political activity right from India's pre-independence days. The erstwhile summer capital of the British, Himachal Pradesh became a recognized state on 25th January 1971 and houses four Parliamentary constituencies.
At present the Indian National Congress is in power with a powerful government formed under the competent leadership of Chief Minister, Shri Virbhadra Singh and comprises of 4 parliamentary constituencies and 68 assembly constituencies.
