Central University of Hyderabad


The University of Hyderabad was set up in the year 1974. One of the leading institutes of post-graduate teaching and research in India, the university is located at GachiBowli in the outskirts of Hyderabad on the old Hyderabad-Mumbai highway.

It is spread over a huge area and contains a wide variety of flora and fauna. It has a city campus, "the Golden Threshold", which houses the residence of the late Sarojini Naidu.

The different schools of the University are as follows:

  • SN School of Performing Arts, Fine Arts & Communication
  • School of Management Studies Study India Program
  • School of Life Sciences
  • School of Humanities
  • School of Social Sciences


Various courses like M.A, M.Sc, M.C.A, M.Tech are provided in the University. The University has decided to start undergraduate courses as well. There are 10 hostels (7 for men and 3 for women) in the University, besides a shopping centre and a health care centre.

The library at the University was one of the first in the country to be fully computerised. The university awards scholarships to the talented students and students who come from the economically deprived sections of the society.

The students also have campus placements every year. Along with their students, students also participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.
