About Hyderabad District
Hyderabad serves as a capital city to the state of Andhra Pradesh in India and is formed of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is a busy metropolis where around 6 million people reside. In yester years, the city was the main administrative center of the Nizams of Hyderabad. The city, located on the pristine banks of Musi River, looks mesmerizing with its vast landscape dotted with old and new structures.
This 5th largest city of India was set up by Muhammad Quli in 1590. It was under the rule of the Qutb Shahi kingdom from 1512 till 1687. Attracted by the strategic location of the city and its wealth, Aurangazeb launched an attack to seize it. Gradually, the city lost its significance and became a land of ruins. However, under the reign of Viceroy Asaf Jah I, the city got a new life and became prosperous again.
Modes of Transport in Hyderabad District
Traveling in and around Hyderabad is pretty easy and enjoyable also. The local modes of transport in the city are auto rickshaw, private taxis and buses. If you are traveling by auto rickshaw, you may need to pay a minimum of 10 Rs. as a fare. However, this is subject to change. There are very few private taxis in the city. But, you can always look for the pre-paid ones.
If you are planning to travel in the city of Hyderabad on bus, then it is useful to know that there are two kinds of bus services available in the city. One is regular Road Transport Corporation buses and the other is APSRTC run Metro Liners.
